Looking for an opportunity to get involved at Barrow? We would love to have you join us as a volunteer in the Barrow Media Center -no experience necessary! There are two types of volunteer opportunities: (1) weekly volunteers who commit to a regular time slot each week (or who share that slot with someone, knowing that everyone misses from time to time due to vacations, illness, etc); and/or (2) special events volunteers, who receive an invitation to sign up to volunteer for events as they approach, including fall and spring book fairs, Barrow’s storybook celebration (around Halloween) and Polar Express Day. These volunteers sign up as they are able but are under no obligation for any event.
Mr. Plemmons does a fantastic job with our Barrow Buddies, but his skills are in high demand, and he is a one-man shop. The more volunteers we have to assist with shelving, assisting students in finding ‘just right’ books and special events, the more time Mr. Plemmons can devote to working our students. If you are interested in volunteering, please email Margaret Christ, Media Center volunteer coordinator, at mchrist@uga.edu. I would be happy to meet you in the Media Center at your convenience and give you enough information and training to make you feel comfortable with volunteering. THANK YOU in advance for considering being a Media Center Volunteer!
